A.Y.A is Japan-born multidisciplinary music artist based in London.

 

In 2018, A.Y.A unveiled the single "gravity," marking the commencement of her musical journey. Subsequently, her music garnered recognition, earning placements in playlists both domestically and internationally. Since then, she has released three full albums, one remix album, two EPs and multiple singles showcasing her playful, edgy and versatile music talent.

 

Her musical exploration is defined by a fearless approach to traversing genre boundaries. In 2020” released album “Mercury Retrograde", she delved into alternative R&B and hip-hop. The album "Uncured" (2021) seamlessly blended R&B with electro, while "Out of the Race" (2018) saw her experimenting with dance music inspired by car racing motifs. The release of "Sugar" (2022) unveiled a catchy hyper-pop sound, underlining her openness to change and her inclination to challenge genre norms, vividly evident in her body of work.

 

The artist showcases her self producing skills of visual production with her adaptable a method-acting-like approach tailored to the theme of each piece. Notable examples include the music videos for "Out of the Race" and "Tough Guy," where the artist's talent and sensitivity in capturing the zeitgeist while expressing a distinctive artistic vision shine through.

 

In 2022, she leveraged her profound understanding of music to delve into DJing. Shortly thereafter, she hosted and produced the DJ interview program "WHY WE PLAY" by Pioneer DJ Japan. Her single "TYO," released in 2023, resonated with the ambiance of the Tokyo club scene and her earnest dedication to music, securing the top position on the iTunes House Chart.
